Scientists Are Testing
Well I was waiting for this to happen. Ever since vitamin D has surfaced as a super vitamin that is not really a vitamin, I was waiting for conventional medicine to make a frontal attack. It has happened.
Both Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Womens' Hospital in Boston are spending $20 million and checking 20,000 elderly people to see if vitamin D really helps with cancer and cardiovascular issues.
First off, they are using supplements. My concern would be that they would use high quality ones. Next I would hope they would use them in optimal amounts (several times more than label suggestions). Finally, I hope they use them long enough.
Oh - one more point - I hope they use the active version vitamin D3. That's the stuff you get from the sun and NOT the stuff they put in milk (D2). This thing smells 'fishy' to me, pardon the pun. I can't wait to see what they have to say about this pro-hormone that has been called a vitamin. It builds strong bones (rickets) we know but it also does a whole lot more.
We have the evidence let's see what 'evidence' they come up with for the 'sunshine vitamin.'
